Grantley and Family
I remember the last time I heard his voice, it was at the online Zoom Alumni meeting that he chaired. He was jovial, sincere, affable and loved SSTC and his Class of 78 batchmates. He made a positive impact on this planet and so I say WALK GOOD, REST ur physical body. Your beautiful memories will be cherished by us all.
Grantley , I am reminded of the last meeting we had and how passionate you were about your batchmates and all you wanted to see and do with the batch of 78. Your commitment to the batch was second to none and you did so with so much grace , and of course letting your comedic side chime in. We are going to miss you, but never the memories we shared. Sleep on, you have entered your rest..And now it’s only time that is separating you from all of us.

Even though I never met Grantley in the physical, I had the great pleasure of finally connecting with my Green side of the family towards the end of the pandemic error, and it brought me such a joy to finally put together the missing pieces of my ancestry line. Grantley was one of those individual who made it so easy for me. He was very welcome and loving, with a wonderful sense of humor. We had the opportunity to interact with each other through zoom and as well as our family chat and it warmed my heart everytime we interacted. Grantley was always so kind with his words and took the time to wish myself and my daughter a happy birthday. Merging into such a large family, Grant was one of the names that was so easy to remember because my mother’s side is actually the Grants and I was finally connecting with my Greens. May your soul rest perpetually with the Lord.
As a Mile Gully child in the 80’s the Greens home at Settlement welcomed everyone. I recall Grantley’s smile, wit and interest in everyone. He always asked how things were going and how is this person or that. I eventually caught up with Grantley in adulthood and he remained unchanged.
What I know is that he loved Mile Gully, he loved and showed respect to it’s citizens, whether he knew them well or not. A ready smile, a quick laughter, the question to my child self; Nicky yu want an orange or grapefruit?
Grantley was just one of those individuals who made you feel at ease. So, until then, we will meet him in the morning.
I give my condolences to the family. May Mr. Green rest with the TMH Yahuah and our savior Yashua in heaven. Peace Love and Life to all of the family and friends. ??????❤️
My condolences to the Family and friends of Mr. Grantley Green. He was my first Insurance Agent. I had a lot of respect for his motivation, honesty, integrity and keen attention to details. His soul is resting in peace and light perpetual is shining on him.
It was with a feeling of great distress and shock that I learned of Grantly’s passing. His kindness and thoughtfulness will make him stand out in my memory for a very long time. Rest in Peace my little brother!
Grantley Green, GG, Gentle Giant, I will miss your occasional calls. May your sweet soul Rest in Peace.
GG, was a batch mate, friend and sounding board partner. Grantley, loved the Sam Sharpe batch of 1978 and class of 1981. We, spoke constantly and affectionately about members of the group, about our get together and how much we need to support the college.
Grantley was an excellent sportsman in college and over the years any discussion about cricket, track and field and Jamaica’s involvement would be extremely animating for him.
Grantley, I will miss those calls and the way you say “Bowieeee hear mi nuh man”
You were a gentleman, a kindhearted person and your love for your family, country, Teachers’ College and Batches will be missed, but never forgotten. I missed seeing you one more time by a week, but my memories are many and I will cherish the times we have shared for as long as I love. I thank your wife and daughter, mother and siblings for sharing their precious gift with us and we have a hope of a grand reunion.
Walk good my friend.
Grantley was my teammate at the Mile Gully Community Club , we played Cricket , Football and Table Tennis. Grantley was a fierce but fair competitor , I remember him as an exciting winger full of flair and speed. It was while playing football he gave himself the moniker ” Trang Puss” after a powerful man in a nearby community reputable of enormous strength.
Grantley was one of four brothers who represented Mile Gully at Football a feat equalled by me and my 3 other brothers.
Condolences to his Family and may he have eternal rest.
After beating the local strong-man “Trang Puss” in drafts, Gee gained a huge reputation among us in Mile Gully Youth Club and earned the nick name Trangy. Thanks to Tony “Rufus” White for the memories.
**Ode to Grantley, the Mile Gully Sage**
In Mile Gully’s embrace, a boy was raised,
With virtues pure, his parents praised.
**Grantley**, the name that echoes still,
In church halls where time seems to stand still.
A Sunday school teacher, with wisdom to impart,
Youth services he led, with a Moravian heart.
His voice in the choir, a melodious feat,
In church concerts, his presence was sweet.
Now segue to the field, where the cricket bats swing,
In Mile Gully’s heart, Grantley was king.
Football and cricket, he organized with zest,
At the community center, he was simply the best.
A swift table tennis serve, a checkmate so sly,
In games of the mind, he was the guy.
A chessboard warrior, a ping-pong knight,
In every match, he shone so bright.
Let’s not forget the tunes, the rhythm, and rhyme,
For music was his passion, transcending time.
Radio on, he’d name that song,
Artist and track, he’d never get wrong.
So here’s to Grantley, a man of many plays,
In life’s grand game, he charmed our days.
With laughter and cheer, we remember his story,
A Mile Gully legend, in all his glory.
Such a wonderful piece of poetry, hyperbole and all, to remind us of my dear brother. Somewhere up there my Trongy is smiling.
This is a beautiful ode to the man we knew @Von-Dane. On point!!
May God continue to strengthen and comfort you as you navigate the world without Grantley!
May his souls rest in peace!
Praying for you all!❤️???

My sincerest Condolences to the Families Green and the Mile Gully Community.
The transition of our King Brother Grantley is a very saddening and painful reality. Despite the fact that we all will trod this path this part of our existence all ways cause us some pain and sadness.
I can remember the Pleasant Jovial Inquisitive well known Grantley Green. I don’t know why he was well known but he had a magnetism that would cause you to become his friend without a word spoken. R.I.P Grantley. Although I’m Saddened by your transitioning there is a feeling of peacefulness the kind we would share if we had a chance to meet again. Sail on Mi Bredda…
It seems like only yesterday we talked, laugh my dearest CUZ. I remember the many times I demand your presence at my office to collect my premium. You were not only a COUSIN but my INSURANCE AGENT. you were the only relative I had in Montego Bay and you made me feel special. Now as I bid you life eternal. Sleep in the arms of the Lord and light perpetual shine upon.
From the family of Ina Green and rest of the siblings.
Forever love SHELLY
Sharp piercing eyes, and a smile that usually transformed into rapturous laughter were externals that emanated from a gentleman with a heart of gold. He was able to navigate the uniqueness of a group of over 200 batchmates and found a way to positively impact all. From sports to academics and eventual leadership of the Class of 1978, Grantley served with excellence and commitment. He enjoyed socializing with his batchmates, and I reflect on the last Batch Reunion (2022) when he entertained us with what I later learned was “The Mile Gully Dance” style. We were connected on another level when he married my group mate and friend. This bond spanned over 4 decades. I am thrilled to have been part of the last reunion and the memories made and shared are now deeply etched in my mind and will remain with me for life. Indeed, there are special people in our lives that never leave us after they are gone. Sweet be your rest, Grantley.
Grantley your jovial personality lingers in my mind. Your wore a facial expression that says” everything will be alright”You came executed your purpose and left us with pleasant memories. To the family I know permanent separation brings so much discomfort but may his memories place a smile on your face. Job well done.
Grantley and I worked together at the Savannalamar Branch of Life if Jamaica now Sagicor. He had an infectious smile which would turned out to a resounding laugh. He honed his craft as a Life Underwriter.
How many cases you brought today ? He would ask at the Monday morning branch meeting. He was a ‘cases man’I remember him coming from Black River on a Monday morning with a corner to corner smile , yes he knew what I was about say to him.
The Master has decided to call you home , rest from your labour…
This is way too soon to lose our precious friend and batchmate. He was so full of life the last time I saw him.
I wish his family will be comforted in this time of mourning.
God bless you.
Grantley Green you will be missed!
Grantley was a very calm, funny and intelligent young man. He was my classmate. As a member of the class of 1976 his loss has left a void. May his soul rest in peace. Sincere condolences to his family.
Grantley was my Insurance Agent for years. We lived in the same community of Westgreen in Montego Bay. He was a master in his field with an award winning personality. He called sometime ago and we chatted for a while. Condolences to his family and friends. May He rest in eternal peace. Walk good Grantley and may the Angels triumphantly welcome you.
